Ilia Topuria Breaks Silence on Next UFC Opponent – Dana White’s SHOCKING Reply Leaves Fans Stunned!!!

Ilia Topuria’s next fight all depends on the UFC 315 main event.

The UFC Featherweight Champion moving up to the lightweight division is one of the more captivating storylines of 2025. After knocking out Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway back-to-back, Topuria relinquished his world title earlier this year on the UFC’s promise that he’d be fighting for the 155lb title.

Ilia Topuria’s dropped one clue after another regarding his lightweight conquest, confirming days ago he would be fighting at UFC 317 on June 28th at this year’s International Fight Week.

But, against who? That’s the question everybody’s wondering as we quickly approach UFC 317, which is still left without a main event.

Ilia Topuria eyes Islam Makhachev, Charles Oliveira ahead of UFC 315

While there’s a lot of intrigue in a fight between Topuria and Islam Makhachev, the lightweight champion already has his eyes on challenging for a second belt at welterweight and met with UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell recently.

Makhachev could opt out of a welterweight move if his friend Belal Muhammad retains the welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315.

If challenger Della Maddalena wins, there’s a possibility Makhachev moves up with Topuria having to fight another, former champ Charles Oliveira.

“It’s Islam or Charles,” Topuria told El Hormiguero in Spanish, when asked about his next opponent.

Dana White confirms the UFC’s plans for Ilia Topuria

It looks like we won’t have to wait too long on Topuria’s next fight as Muhammad and Della Maddalena will collide in the UFC 315 headliner this Saturday.

Waiting in the wings is champion Makhachev and Oliveira, the #2 lightweight contender coming off a win over Michael Chandler.

At the UFC 315 press conference, UFC CEO Dana White was asked if the result of the welterweight title fight between Muhammad and Della Maddalena will determine Topuria’s opponent for UFC 317.

“There’s a lot of moving parts right now and yeah, that’s pretty accurate,” White confirmed on Thursday night.

Whether it’s ‘And Still’ or ‘And New’ this weekend, time will tell who will be standing across from Ilia Topuria for the lightweight title, come International Fight Week.
