“HE’S GOT THAT POOR” – Justin Bieber’s new sneakers are criticized as fake, “made in China”

The world of urban fashion has been in turmoil since Justin Bieber unveiled his new sneaker line. Billed as a bold, exclusive collaboration, the highly anticipated pair quickly garnered attention… but not for the right reasons. Within hours, social media was ablaze, and criticism poured in from all sides. The most viral quote? “He’s become that poor,” some internet users quipped, shocked by the design, which was deemed “cheap,” and the manufacturing quality, which resembled a vulgar Chinese knockoff.

The pair, meant to reflect the Canadian pop star’s “street-luxe” style, was criticized for its aesthetic reminiscent of cheap models already seen on Asian online retailers. Many even compared the design to low-end copies found in counterfeit markets. The materials used, deemed plasticky and unrefined, only served to exacerbate the controversy.

What’s even more shocking is the contrast with the image Bieber has been trying to project in recent months: that of a mature, sober artist, refocused on quality projects. Instead, this release gives his fans the impression of a sloppy, almost desperate product, as if the star is trying to monetize his name without any real artistic effort.

Some designers have tried to defend the project, claiming it’s a deliberately low-key approach to democratizing street fashion. But this attempt at explanation was quickly crushed by an avalanche of memes, mocking videos, and scathing comments: “It looks like a 10 euro Wish copy,” “Even fake Yeezys have more style than this,” and “Made in China and soulless.”

The controversy also raises questions about Justin Bieber’s image management and marketing choices. After years of struggling to shake off his teen star image, this failed outing could represent a step backward in the public eye.

In short, what was supposed to be an exclusive release has turned into a global buzzword. And while the shoe is getting talked about, it’s certainly not for its aesthetic or technical qualities. Justin Bieber will now have to redouble his efforts to regain the trust of a public that is seriously beginning to doubt his creative intentions.
